A night with CASPAR BABY PANTS (summary)

I went to South campus to watch the show A Night With Caspar Babypants. The room was very full parents, families  especially children of all kind.  It was a Free concert for families enrolled in a bates-affiliated child care center or preschool.  The children had fun Caspar Babypants 'real name is Chris Ballew.  He is a very good guitar player and all the kids were exited to dance to his song.  he was playing musics that the kids were familiar with and also ask them what they would like him to play. It was really fun we all had a good time being there. everyone was excited and it was a really nice show.

Emotion coaching

Children's behavior mostly depends on their environment. Some children only reflect the behavior of what they experience at home from families or divorced parent. The situation is very critical for those who comes from a broken family and the lack of love. Once at school they become very aggressive and really distant from the other kid and don't want to sociolize. Their behavior is not necessary their natural behavior, they need someone to talk to and need special attention to make them feel welcome their school environment. Advicer can also help by keeping in touch with the parents to come to a common ground in the best interest of the child.

Multiple intelligence

In the multiple intelligence quiz I identify more like an intra-personal intelligence. Learning alone is what Motivates me the most to achieve what I want to achieve. I love reading and do my own research because i want to know my strengths and my weaknesses. Challenge is very important to me because it help me to identify myself in a better way. I like to bring out what i have in mind and reflect on it to see wether it matches the reality or not. Working on things solo is a very helpful to me.

Hand Washing

People don't use the right method of hygiene for hand washing.  I have noticed that they will be washing their hand for only 10 second without even scrubbing all the part of their fingers and not even letting the water run the way it should be. I think rather than eliminating the germs they are actually spreading them. they don't even turn off the focet with the napkin and still touching the door handle with the same hand they just washed.  It is very difficult for certain people to apply the rules of hygiene.

Yasmine: Learning through play (discussion)

Play is an attitude  to healthy development and learning. I agree that play is the work of children because children learn through play. They discover a lot of things they couldn't think of just by playing and come up with ideas. Free play is a play that comes from children's own ideas without adult intervention but adults only provide a place and let them play. Play has an influence on creative capacities and problem solving abilities.  It is joyful, surprise, imaginative, free from adult and solution to challenges. Outdoor playing help the children to explore and bring the knowledge and experience they have gotten from outside to bring inside the classroom. Play is important for children.

Yasmine: DAP Advocacy Early Childhood Education assignment # 1

Children should always come first in the society because they are very vulnerable little human being. We
should be using a lot of resources that can help them developing in the right track. Families of the children should also be involved to help the children. If I was given  three wishes to bring change for young children and their families it would be;  Bringing confidence to the children and their families; Creating an association for children's parents; And also create a program that can help families and children to socialize according to their cultural background so that they know about other people and families and what can be good for their children.  Have a mutual understanding of the children's development and learning with the families in order to follow the children milestone in their learning environment. "Two-way communication" which is when each child is assigned to one care giver that provide all the information to the parent about their children activities and learning development.  Using DAP book is also a very powerful tool for the staff, children and families because it helps with appropriate teaching and tells us for is good or not good for the children while learning.

Becoming An Administrator

After Attending the training at the department of Early Learning Licensing  Childcare orientation I have learned a lot about being a director of a center and I have also seen how tough it is to be the head of  a whole center. You have to make sure that all the staff meet all the requirement in order to make the center work. TB skin test, background check etc... and the director himself or herself has to have a clean background and not been involved in any criminal act in their past... And one of the most important thing that I have kept in mind is that, it is very important to to consult a Fire Marshall and have him come out first to check the building where the center will be located before buying or signing any paper because he knows better to avoid inconveniences. In conclusion I have learn that it takes a lot of courage, attentions, determination to become a director and also details that need to be deeply checked to have a successful center. I really do have a lot of respect for director and I saw how uneasy it it to become a director.

My phylosophy of teaching for ECE

A preschool teacher is the second care giver for children. Every child deserves respect and tolerance when they are learning from caregivers because kids learn gradually and with patience. A preschool teacher role is to be respectful to children and give out the best care and love to the children they are caring for. An Early learning center or daycare should have experienced and devoted teachers around the children to help them learning the right way.  The classroom should have the appropriate materials that can help the children developing their skills as well as good staff who know what they are doing and also who value the children needs.  Teachers should also build  a relationship with the children family to meet on the same page as far as following their development.

Cradling Litteracy

Getting ready to read is one the the major thing primary care giver should be really focusing on.  Children always learn from their primary care giver and everything start early with children. there is nothing wrong in starting to teach kid at very early age. It doesn't harm, it only help them get ready and be ahead on everything.  Even before twelve months it is still okay to read to children so that their brain is a little prepare for what's coming up next. From 12 to 24 months we should encourage children to use sounds and actions to communicate with us.  Reading to children helps and encourage them to love reading.  Older todler can put words together to share their thought. No matter the age of any children it is always safe and beneficial to encourage reading and the more they learn to like reading the better for them as they growing into it. And it is always good because reading is the key to success.

Tolerance

After watching the video and visiting the website about tolerance, I have learn that we need to accept and understand everyone, no matter where.  It could be at work, with the students, children, with the co-workers with everybody and everywhere. Like in that video, I really like that teacher who was explaining to the student at kindergarten how everybody cannot be comfortable doing what other people are comfortable doing.  The children were learning and being explained and experienced how it was like to be in the weelchair. Diversity is unavoidable because we will always come across people that don't share the same value as us. Everybody deserves to be comfortable.  As teacher, we need to encourage bondage amoung ourselves and the children. Make them feel confident in every cation they take. Understand that everyone have their own way of learning and we should embrace the level of every child and welcome every child to their best abilities.

The importance of respecting cultural diversity

All  children deserve an early childhood education related to their families, communities and cultural background.
Early Childhood educator faces the challenge of how best to respond to these needs.  Children
still develop and learn everyday in their lives so no matter what language they speak they will develop their cognitive and social development.  The language spoken at home is the language that the children have learn and know since birth.  Parents should encourage it by speaking it to their children because regardless they will speak English at school.  Early childhood educator should  encourage the development of children's home language while fostering the acquisition of English.  Diversity is one of the wonderful experience  educator and children can have.  They both get to learn a lot about others.  Children coming from diverse different cultural background should be respected like any other children because all children deserve to be treated equally.  The goal for early childhood educator should be to make the most of children's potential, strengthening and building up on skills they bring when they enter the programs.  Educator should also keep contact and good relationship with the children's parents because  it helps with the involvement of their development and keep track of them.
Bilingual teacher are also playing an important role in the program.  If the early childhood teacher speaks the child's home language, the teacher can use that language to speak with the child to make it easier to understand, the teacher can also use it to communicate with the children family in a language they can understand.  They can assist the other parents and community member who maybe unable to read and help with the communication with staff and parents.  Early childhood educator can best help linguistic and culturally diverse children and their families by responding to the importance of the child's home language and culture and most importantly by respecting and preserving the diversity of their home language and culture.
